An AI product should know its own footprint.

All of it in Sweden, all of it in the EU

The entire VerbaPulse platform runs on Microsoft Azure in the Sweden Central region: the application, the database, and the dedicated Azure OpenAI deployment that performs every language-risk analysis. Analysis traffic does not leave the EU.

• One of Europe's lowest-carbon grids. Sweden's electricity comes almost entirely from fossil-free sources: hydro, nuclear, and wind. For a small AI company, region choice is the single largest footprint lever, and we pulled it.
• A cool climate. Datacenter cooling drives a large share of electricity and water use. Sweden's climate reduces that load for most of the year.
• Our provider's commitments. Microsoft has published targets of being carbon negative and water positive by 2030. These commitments are Microsoft's, and we cite them as context: Microsoft sustainability.
• One region, right-sized. No idle multi-region redundancy we do not need at this stage. We scale when usage does.

The cheapest kilowatt-hour is the one never used

Several product decisions, made originally for privacy and quality, also keep our compute small:

• Analysis runs on demand. VerbaPulse checks a draft when the user triggers it. No passive scanning of mailboxes or archives means no idle background inference.
• Short, structured outputs. The model returns a compact risk assessment, not long generated text. Typical responses are a few hundred tokens.
• Prompt caching. System instructions are cached by the platform, so repeated analyses avoid reprocessing the same tokens.
• No training on customer content. Content is analyzed in memory and discarded. There are no fine-tuning or training runs on customer data, by us or by the model provider.

1% of every sale goes to carbon removal

VerbaPulse is a Stripe Climate member: 1% of every purchase automatically funds permanent carbon removal technologies vetted by Frontier's science team. The contribution is built into our billing, so it scales with revenue without a yearly pledge to remember.

Removal funding complements running efficiently in the first place; it is a contribution, and we do not present it as neutrality.

Where VerbaPulse sits in E, S, and G

For vendor assessments, this is how our practices map to the three pillars, and to the frameworks behind them.

Framework notes:

• GHG Protocol. When we publish footprint numbers, they will follow the GHG Protocol. Our footprint today is dominated by purchased cloud services, which sit in Scope 3 for us.
• CSRD / ESRS. VerbaPulse is below CSRD thresholds as a company. Our customers are often in scope, and we support their value-chain reporting by completing vendor sustainability questionnaires.

UN Sustainable Development Goals. This is a mapping of what the product and our operations actually do, target by target. VerbaPulse has applied to join the UN Global Compact; our participation is pending review, and this page will be updated when it is confirmed.

What we do not claim

• VerbaPulse is not carbon neutral, and funding carbon removal is a contribution, never a neutrality claim.
• We have not yet measured our full operational footprint. Measurement comes before claims; when we publish numbers, they will be measured ones.
• Our cloud provider's environmental commitments describe Microsoft's operations. We benefit from them and cite them, and our own footprint still deserves its own accounting.
