Sustainability

An AI product should know its own footprint.

VerbaPulse runs entirely in the EU on one of Europe's lowest-carbon grids, is designed to spend as little compute as the job allows, and puts 1% of every sale into permanent carbon removal. This page says exactly what we do, which frameworks it maps to, and what we refuse to claim.

Where it runs

All of it in Sweden, all of it in the EU

The entire VerbaPulse platform runs on Microsoft Azure in the Sweden Central region: the application, the database, and the dedicated Azure OpenAI deployment that performs every language-risk analysis. Analysis traffic does not leave the EU.

Less compute by design

The cheapest kilowatt-hour is the one never used

Several product decisions, made originally for privacy and quality, also keep our compute small:

Carbon removal

1% of every sale goes to carbon removal

VerbaPulse is a Stripe Climate member: 1% of every purchase automatically funds permanent carbon removal technologies vetted by Frontier's science team. The contribution is built into our billing, so it scales with revenue without a yearly pledge to remember.

Removal funding complements running efficiently in the first place; it is a contribution, and we do not present it as neutrality.

ESG alignment

Where VerbaPulse sits in E, S, and G

For vendor assessments, this is how our practices map to the three pillars, and to the frameworks behind them.

E
Environmental
EU-only infrastructure on the Swedish grid, efficiency-first product design, and 1% of sales to permanent carbon removal via Stripe Climate.
S
Social
Preventing workplace discrimination is where VerbaPulse began: the product flags discriminatory, bias-coded, and harassing wording before it is sent, from job ads to internal messages. And it does so without surveillance: no message storage, no person-level tracking, aggregated analytics only.
G
Governance
Pre-send compliance is governance tooling by definition: policy enforcement, audit trail, NDA controls. Internally we hold ourselves to an honest-claims standard, a GDPR DPA, and publicly documented sub-processors.

Framework notes:

UN Sustainable Development Goals. This is a mapping of what the product and our operations actually do, target by target. VerbaPulse has applied to join the UN Global Compact; our participation is pending review, and this page will be updated when it is confirmed.

5
Gender Equality
Target 5.1
Gender-coded wording in job ads and internal messages is flagged before it is sent, with inclusive rewrites that keep the role's real requirement.
8
Decent Work and Economic Growth
Targets 8.5 · 8.8
Harassment-aware and toxic-culture language detection supports safe, respectful working environments, and fair job-ad language keeps access to employment open.
10
Reduced Inequalities
Target 10.3
Age-coded, nationality-biased, and other discriminatory phrasing is caught before publication: eliminating discriminatory practices at the level of everyday writing.
12
Responsible Consumption and Production
Target 12.6
Efficiency-first compute, and public sustainability reporting on this page.
13
Climate Action
Mitigation
Low-carbon region choice for all infrastructure, and 1% of every sale funding permanent carbon removal.
16
Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Targets 16.6 · 16.b
Compliance tooling that makes policies real at the moment of writing: policy enforcement, anonymized audit trail, and non-discriminatory practice built into everyday communication.

What we do not claim

Our commitment

The VerbaPulse sustainability commitment

  1. Fossil-free first. Every new workload defaults to fossil-free-heavy EU regions.
  2. Efficiency before scale. Right-sized models, cached prompts, compact outputs, no idle inference.
  3. 1% of every sale to permanent carbon removal through Stripe Climate, built into our billing.
  4. Measure, then publish. As volume grows we will estimate energy per analysis and publish it on this page.
  5. This page follows the facts. It changes when they change, in both directions.

Questions

Sustainability FAQ

Where is VerbaPulse hosted and where does its AI run?
The entire platform runs on Microsoft Azure in the EU: application, database, and a dedicated Azure OpenAI deployment, all in the Sweden Central region. Analysis traffic does not leave the EU.
Is VerbaPulse carbon neutral?
No, and we do not claim to be. We run on one of Europe's lowest-carbon grids, design the product to spend minimal compute, and contribute 1% of every sale to permanent carbon removal. We will publish measured footprint numbers before making any neutrality claim.
What is the Stripe Climate contribution?
1% of every VerbaPulse purchase automatically funds permanent carbon removal technologies through Stripe Climate. It is built into billing and scales with revenue.
Does VerbaPulse train AI models on customer data?
No. Customer content is analyzed in memory and discarded. There are no training runs on customer content, by VerbaPulse or by the model provider.
Which UN Sustainable Development Goals does VerbaPulse map to?
SDG 5 (gender equality: gender-coded language flagged in job ads), SDG 8 (decent work: harassment-aware detection), SDG 10 (reduced inequalities: discriminatory phrasing caught before publication), SDG 12 (responsible consumption: efficiency-first compute), SDG 13 (climate action: low-carbon region and carbon removal), and SDG 16 (strong institutions: compliance tooling with an anonymized audit trail). This is a mapping of product impact and operations; VerbaPulse has applied to join the UN Global Compact and participation is pending review.
